![]() Disease can cause a character to be unplayable if you don't have the remedy before hand. If you have less than 150 hp, get away from everything that causes explosions as fast as possible. Temp below -100 causes you to freeze, above 1000 causes you to die instantly, and using fire over water will cause extreme damage due to steam. You can suddenly die very quickly due to temperature effects. Consider losing only a quarter of your hp to be a mortal threat worth escaping from. Lure enemies rather than going out to fight them This is doubly so for this game due to swarmers. General roguelike advice always applies though: Most deaths beyond level 6 are going to be in the form of instadeaths, stunlocking, hubris, not knowing what an enemy does, etc, so character builds are best that have heavy survivability. There's so many things crazily unbalanced that I doubt it's worth even attempting to balance out, and it's an amusing game even as is. Getting realy high AV, EV is garbage since it drops to 0 on being stunned. Getting ~70% freeze resists and using freeze grenades on everything threatening Using phasing ro phase grenade and phasing through the level. Just teleporting away from enemies and resting so you always have a charge left There's 1000 ways of elimating 95% of threats or escaping. Unlike many roguelikes, caves of qud is not even remotely balanced.
